The Patek Philippe Grand Complications 5270P-017 is a platinum version of the perpetual calendar chronograph 5270, combining the established case architecture of the model with a lacquered red dial and black-gradient rim. This reference retains the familiar display layout of the 5270 while introducing a different dial treatment and strap configuration within the platinum case.

Its case is crafted in platinum and measures 41 mm in diameter with a thickness of 12.4 mm. The watch is fitted with a concave bezel and two-tier lugs, and, as is customary for platinum Patek Philippe references, the case is set with a diamond at 6 o’clock. A sapphire crystal case back reveals the movement, and water resistance is rated to 30 metres.

The dial is executed in lacquered red with a black-gradient rim. White gold applied faceted obus-style hour markers and white gold faceted dauphine-style hands are paired with a white printed tachymeter scale. The calendar and chronograph displays follow the established 5270 arrangement, with the day and month shown in a double aperture at 12 o’clock, day/night and leap year indications displayed in round apertures, and the date indicated by hand together with the moon-phase display at 6 o’clock. The chronograph indications include a central chronograph hand, an instantaneous 30-minute counter, and small seconds.

Inside is the manually wound Patek Philippe calibre CH 29-535 PS Q, a chronograph movement with perpetual calendar. The movement combines traditional chronograph construction with six patented chronograph-related innovations and measures 32 mm in diameter with a thickness of 7.00 mm. It consists of 456 parts, uses 33 jewels, and operates at 28,800 semi-oscillations per hour. The power reserve, with the chronograph disengaged, ranges from a minimum of 55 hours to a maximum of 65 hours. The movement uses a Breguet balance spring and bears the Patek Philippe Seal.

The watch is fitted with a black composite strap with a fabric pattern and contrasting red stitching, secured by a platinum fold-over clasp. This strap configuration, together with the lacquered red dial, forms part of the defining specification of the reference within the 5270 line.
