Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton was founded in Paris in 1854, when Louis Vuitton opened his first store near Place Vendôme after years of working as a trunk-maker and packer. The house initially developed around travel trunks and luggage, later expanding its work into leather goods and bags as its catalogue evolved beyond traditional travel pieces.

Its bag collections today span a wide range of structured and softer silhouettes, interpreted in leather, canvas, and other materials. Many designs draw on visual elements connected to the house’s history in travel goods, including the Damier pattern introduced in 1888 and the Monogram canvas created by Georges Vuitton in 1896.
